CCPIT Beijing attends China-ASEAN Beijing Economic Forum

On 16 December 2011, the China-ASEAN Economic Forum was held in Beijing. President of CCPIT Beijing Ms. XIONG Jiuling attended the opening ceremony and were with Mr. LIU Qi when he met with overseas participants. Deputy president of CCPIT Beijing Mr. NI Yuegang presided over a discussion on “sharing opportunities and advancing hand in hand.”
As one of the organizers of the forum, CCPIT Beijing invited some member enterprises of the Beijing Chamber of International Commerce and briefed them the hi-tech expo, the cultural and creative expo(ICCIE) and the Beijing International Friendly Commerce Assembly hosted by CCPIT Beijing Sub-Council.
The theme of the forum was “hand in hand, innovation, win-win and development.” Mayor of Beijing Mr. GUO Jinlong and ASEAN secretary general Surin Pitsuwan attended and addressed the opening ceremony. Deputy mayor Ms. CHENG Hong gave a keynote speech. Mr. LI Shixiang, member of the Standing Committee of Beijing Municipal Committee, and secretary general presided over the forum.
Mr. GUO noted in his speech that China and ASEAN are good neighbors, good friends and good companions. Co-operation in between has been deepening over the years since establishment twenty years ago. Beijing, as the capital of China, has been dedicated to practical co-operation with ASEAN member countries and has yielded good results. In 2010, the total amount of import and export volume between Beijing and ASEAN increased 21.5% on a year-on-year basis. The 10 ASEAN member countries set up 1,858 investment companies in Beijing.
Surin Pitsuwan said in his address that the staging of this forum is a perfect sign of the ever expanding economic and trade relations between China and ASEAN. China has become the second largest economy in the world. Its international status and global influence is amplifying. As the capital of China, Beijing is a city embraced with vitality and vigor. It is marching forward to a Chinese characterized world city and an innovative business and commercial center. ASEAN hopes to intensify co-operation and exchanges with Beijing in a comprehensive way, broadening economic and trade co-operation fields, complementing each other for mutual benefit and win-win and contributing jointly to economic development of the world.
The all-round co-operation between Beijing and ASEAN has promoted economic and social development of both and has brought great well-being to its people together with enriched strategic partnership. Next, CCPIT Beijing is determined to further mutual co-operation and friendly exchanges with ASEAN countries, help supporting enterprises from both in their scope of co-operation, contents of co-operation and level of co-operation. CCPIT Beijing is motivated to initiate a new chapter of co-operative development and strategic partnership between China and ASEAN.
