The preparatory work for the 15th China Beijing International High-tech Expo enters into last phase

On May 11, the organizing committee meeting of the 15th China Beijing International High-tech Expo (CHITEC) occurred in the office of People’s Government of Beijing Municipality. Wan Gang, vice president of the National Committee of CPPCC, minister of the Ministry of Science and Technology and president of the organizing committee of CHITEC, Guo Jinlong, mayor of Beijing and president of the organizing committee of CHITEC, attended and addressed the meeting. Cheng Hong, vice mayor of Beijing and vice president of the organizing committee of CHITEC presided at the meeting.

The 15th CHITEC will take place in May 22-27. With the theme of “Gathering innovative wisdom to strengthen the real economy”, this CHITEC includes such four parts as events, exhibitions, forums & summit conferences and project promotions & negotiations.

At present, the preparatory work goes smoothly. Five international organizations like World Information Technology and Services Alliance (WITSA) and World Electric Vehicle Association (WEVA) from the United States, Britain and Canada, as well as high-tech and economic trade delegations will be present at this CHITEC. Thirty-eight distinguished guests, such as James Mirrlees, winner of the 1996 Nobel Memorial Prize in Economic Sciences, and Dato’ Dan E. Khoo, WITSA president, will participate.

Mr. Guo put forward five requirements for this CHITEC: 1) to closely center on the theme and highlight the features of this CHITEC; 2) to gathering all resources to maximize the benefits of this CHITEC; 3) to make the work plan specific and do well in service guarantee; 4) to enhance international cooperation and to improve the internationalization level; 5) to ensure the safety work with the sense of responsibility.

Mr. Wan gave a summarizing speech, highly praised the achievements of the CHITECs during 15 years, and put forward four highlights: 1) the theme of “to strengthen the real economy” and cutting-edge high-techs; 2) high-tech exhibition forms; 3) high-quality innovative resources around world to upgrade the international level of the CHITEC; 4) transformations of high-tech achievements to further combine the high-tech and economy.
