葡萄牙工业协会于1837年在里斯本成立，主要为会员企业提供经济信息、教育培训、咨询、展会会议、信息技术等方面的服务。里斯本国际交易博览会由该协会承办，同时该协会经营里斯本会议中心，每年营业额达5000万欧元，有员工250人。

葡萄牙工业协会已经与国际中小企业联合会、欧洲中小企业联合会、国际会议协会等国际组织建立了合作关系。

葡萄牙工业协会致力于通过改善沟通途径和提高合作效率，更好地为会员企业（特别是中小企业）、公众、媒体、公共服务机构提供服务。葡萄牙工业协会的iWeb项目使会员企业能够通过网络享受到葡萄牙工业协会的各项服务，这极大地促进了其与合作者间的关系，加强有效沟通。

Founded in Lisbon in 1837, the Associação Industrial Portuguesa (Portuguese Industrial Association or AIP) provides services for its members in the fields of economic information, education and training, consultancy, fairs and congresses, and, more recently, in the information technology area. The association owns the Lisbon International Fair and the Lisbon Congress Centre. It generates more than €50 million a year and employs around 250 people.

AIP has established cooperative relationship with the organizations like , International Council for Small Business (ICSB), European Association of Craft, Small and Medium-sized Enterprises (UEAPME),  International Congress and Convention Association (ICCA).

AIP decided to improve its communication processes and also to effectively implement collaboration tools, especially for small and midsize companies, for its partners, public, the media, and public administration. AIP's iWeb project, designed to answer to those objectives, defined that AIP services should be available on the Internet, a powerful way to promote relationships with partners and to facilitate two-way communication.
