马克∙赫尔佐格先生是美国国家生物科学联合委员会主席,美国国家生物科学联合委员会是管理整个美国生物科学的国家机构。马克∙赫尔佐格先生自2000年8月至今还一直担任美国维吉尼亚州生物技术协会执行董事,大西洋生物联盟组织董事会成员,2003年担任过在华盛顿举行的国际生物技术公约的生物执行委员会成员,是位于维吉尼亚州里土满的世界事务理事会三大原创始人之一.。

马克∙赫尔佐格先生毕业于美国威廉玛丽学院, 2007年被“风格周刊”杂志评为维吉尼亚州杰出人物40强之一,2006年被任命为维吉尼亚州联邦经济发展与策略计划委员会负责人,是维吉尼亚州联邦生命科学产业总负责人,他也是维吉尼亚州里土满劳工投资委员会副主席。

Mark serves as the chairman of the Council of State Bioscience Associations (CSBA), the national body of all the state bioscience associations in the United States. He is also a vice chairman of the Workforce Investment Board of Richmond, Virginia and a member of the board of directors of the Mid-Atlantic Bio Coalition. He also served as a member of the executive committee for BIO 2003, the international biotechnology convention, held in Washington, D.C. Mark was also one of the three original founders of the World Affairs Council of Greater Richmond.

Mark A. Herzog has served as executive director of the Virginia Biotechnology Association (VaBIO) since August of 2000. He is responsible for the strategic direction, operations, membership and policy positions for the statewide trade group that promotes the considerable scientific and economic impact of the life sciences industry in the Commonwealth of Virginia. VaBIO is headquartered at the Virginia Biotechnology Research Park, in Richmond.

Mark currently serves on a number of statewide policy boards. He was appointed in 2006 by Governor Tim Kaine to a four year term as a member of the Economic Development Strategic Plan Steering Committee for the Commonwealth of Virginia. In 2008, Mark was named to the General Assembly’s Joint Subcommittee on Biotechnology and the Biosciences by the Rules Committee of the Senate of Virginia. From 2002 through 2005, he served as a member of Governor Mark Warner’s Virginia Biotechnology Commission.

He previously served as international business manager and, from 1998-2000, as director of business and industry workforce development for the Greater Richmond Chamber of Commerce. Prior to joining the Chamber staff, he held positions in the Virginia Department of Business Assistance and the campaign office of the late Herbert H. Bateman, former congressman for Virginia’s 1st District.
